Three volume boxed set of the Lord of the Rings. Called both Second Edition and Revised Edition in various places, these are 15th (Fellowship) and 16th printings of this editon. Each edition has colored endpapers and top-edges as follows: Two Towers, Green. Fellowship of the Ring, Orange. Return of the King, Purple. Books all fine and apparentlly unread. Tiny scuff to top edge of Towers, lower edge of Fellowship. Jackets near fine save for minor wear to spine of Return. Slipcase very good, with some external soil and a little bowing. Jackets not priced or clipped, w/blindstamp to rear boards.

Late Tolkien title presenting an essay on the state and significance of the fairy tale, followed by a brief story. First printing stated. The book itself is pristine, and the jacket is quite good, with a small closed tear to the top of the front panel, and slight soil to rear panel. Unfortunately, previous owner took some notes in ink on the rear jacket panel, in the margins. Approaching 50 words. Saving that, a quite nice copy.
